Coaching and Mentoring

Full day | Online or in person

This course is aimed at groups or managers or teams that want to better support each other in doing their jobs. Your teams might be coming out of a restructure with staff taking on new responsibilities, or you might be an established team that wants to encourage sharing skills and knowledge to support each other better.

With half a day focusing on coaching and the other half on mentoring, this course will allow managers or staff to consider the benefits of each and the different scenarios they can be applied to. Throughout the day there is a running theme of building trust and relationships, and ensuring that the people involved get the most out of what coaching and mentoring can offer.

Session 1 (Half Day)
  • Coaching: What it is, when to use it, and how it helps
  • Coaching Conversations: Preparation, questioning techniques and encouraging behaviour
  • Coaching Models: A look at GROW and STAR and how to use them
  • Sample Scenarios: Reflect on the past and plan the future

Session 2 (Half Day)
  • Mentoring: What it is, when to use it and how it differs from coaching
  • Creating a Mentoring Relationship: Defining roles, terms and structure
  • Mentoring Conversations: Sharing experiences, exploring solutions and being inspirational
  • Applying the Learning: Reflect on the past and create a sample programme
